Authorities have arrested a 59-year-old Oregon man in connection with the discovery of human remains inside a storage unit last month. Richard Michael “Mike” Robinson, originally from The Dalles, was taken into custody in Colorado and identified as a person of interest in the death of He “Kiki” Meihong, a 39-year-old woman who had been missing since May.
Grim Discovery in The Dalles
On July 29, police in The Dalles, Oregon, discovered human remains sealed inside a storage box at a facility on West 6th Street. The remains were sent to the Oregon Medical Examiner’s Office in Clackamas, where they were later confirmed to belong to He Meihong. Authorities informed her family following the identification.
Who Was He Meihong?
Meihong, who friends called “Kiki,” was a resident of the Mid-Columbia region and originally from China. A missing person poster noted that she had been last seen on May 25 in Glenwood, Washington, after her fiancé dropped her off to meet friends for a fishing trip. She had been living in Butte, Montana, but was staying with her partner at the time of her disappearance.
Person of Interest Arrested in Colorado
Richard Michael Robinson, 59, who had ties to The Dalles and Klickitat County, Washington, was arrested on August 25 in Colorado. Authorities said he was initially taken into custody on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. Robinson is being held at the Larimer County Jail and is expected to be extradited to Oregon.
A Multi-State Investigation
According to The Dalles Police Department, detectives have been pursuing leads across multiple states, including California, Washington, Utah, Nevada, and Colorado. Robinson was eventually identified as a person of interest, though investigators have not confirmed whether additional charges will be filed in connection with Meihong’s death.
