LAPD Cracks Down on Burglary Crew Behind Nearly 100 Break-Ins

Los Angeles police have arrested a burglary crew accused of carrying out nearly 100 break-ins across the region, recovering a trove of stolen goods, weapons, and narcotics in the process. The operation, conducted at dawn on August 20, was the result of months of coordinated detective work that linked a series of high-profile home burglaries to the same group. Authorities say the arrests strike a significant blow against organized burglary networks that have been targeting upscale neighborhoods in recent years.

Coordinated Raids Across Los Angeles

The joint operation began early Wednesday morning, when LAPD officers and LA County sheriff’s deputies executed search warrants at eight homes. The raids led to the arrests of seven men ranging in age from 22 to 47, all facing burglary charges along with weapons and narcotics violations. Another suspect surrendered to police two days later, while two additional crew members were already in custody on attempted murder charges. In total, ten suspects are now linked to the burglary ring.

Repeat Offenders with Gang Ties

According to investigators, the burglary crew consisted of repeat offenders with strong gang affiliations. Police believe the group is responsible for at least 92 residential burglaries dating back to 2022, with the majority occurring throughout 2024 and 2025. Many of the crimes targeted affluent areas, with thieves seeking luxury watches, designer handbags, jewelry, and cash. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell praised his officers’ persistence, noting that cross-division collaboration was key in connecting the scattered burglaries to the same organized network.

Haul of Stolen Goods and Weapons

The raids uncovered a vast collection of stolen valuables, including high-end purses, luxury timepieces, and jewelry. Police also seized burglary tools such as window-breaking devices, handheld radios, and a money counter. Firearms, large quantities of ammunition, and narcotics were recovered as well, underscoring the violent and organized nature of the operation. Investigators noted that a previous search in April had already turned up stolen credit cards, fake IDs, and additional weapons tied to the same crew.

Prosecutors Promise Tough Penalties

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman emphasized that his office would seek the harshest possible sentences, calling the case an example of how coordinated crime threatens community safety. Hochman, who campaigned on a platform of stricter crime enforcement, said the prosecution would not hesitate to pursue maximum penalties. Police officials say the takedown sends a message that crews relying on repeat offenses and gang ties will face intensified crackdowns.
